Exhibition at Totley Library

Exhibitions, New Prints Available, News

Delighted that some of my prints are now on display and for sale at the lovely Totley Library (or Totley Community Resource and Information Centre). This welcoming, light filled place is a volunteer run charity. It was bustling with activity when I dropped the giclee prints off. They have lots of events including films, story times etc and a Christmas Event on November 26th.

There are a number of other artists’ works also on display. It’s open Monday 1-7pm, Tuesday and Wednesday 10am-5pm, Friday and Saturday 10am – 1pm. Pop along and take a look!

Thanks to the team for giving me this opportunity!

All Good Stuff Gallery

Exhibitions, News

Delighted that I have joined the community of artists and makers at All Good Stuff at Butcher Works, 72 Arundel Street in central Sheffield. The non-profit community interest company was set up in 2013 to promote all that is good about the vibrant Sheffield Art Scene. It really does live up to its name!

The gallery stocks eclectic mix of arts and crafts from over 60 makers from Sheffield and around – fantastic ceramics, beautiful handmade jewellery, unique gifts, prints and much more. You can find giclée prints of my paintings, my framed lino prints and greetings cards. It is open 11- 4pm Tuesday to Saturday and am also staffing the shop on some days. Call in and say hello!

See the AGS Facebook page for more about the brilliant arts and crafts in the gallery.

The grade II listed building alone is worth a look, previously a cutlery works and a stunning example of Sheffield’s industrial heritage from the early 1800s. Only 10 minutes walk from the station, 5 minutes from the Millenium Gallery and just round the corner from Sheffield Hallam University. In fact you can see the a slice of the newish SHU Charles Building peeping over the top of Butcher Works in the second photo below.

The Art Post

News

Delighted and very excited that one of my paintings will be featured in the next lovely edition from The Art Post Sheffield!! This is an art subscription box service which started in Sheffield and has now spread to other parts of the UK. Subscribers receive 3 art post cards each time (monthly in Sheffield), showing art from local artists, wrapped and wax sealed – along with the artists’ stories and the inspiration for their artwork. Each one is a secret until it arrives! I can’t wait until it drops through my letterbox!

See more details on their website.

A Website in a Week

News

A week ago, with some trepidation, I started to build a website to show my paintings. The reason – because I was thinking of producing some art cards and thought I probably needed one first. So plenty of time – no rush… Then last Sunday, I received a message about an exciting initiative, which meant that I needed the site up and running by today – eek!

So it has been a very busy week, with some frustrations and some amazing Eureka moments. I have learnt a lot of new acronyms and although I know what some of them stand for – I’m still not quite sure what to do with them all!

This is my first blog, and a bit like the acknowledgements section of a book – it’s a chance for me to say thank you to my family and friends that have helped with this so far. You know who you are! Particular thanks to Vicky, who pointed in me in the right direction and helped troubleshoot; to Tom, who dispensed design advice on the hottest night of the century and to my friend, Frances O’Connor, photographer extraordinaire, who gave brilliant advice as my one woman focus group. Thank you all!!

I have really enjoyed building the site and hope you will enjoy looking at the paintings and prints. Sign up to receive the blog and you’ll find out the reason for the rush!
